Real Journeys Daytime Wilderness Cruise - Doubtful Sound
Your Doubtful Sound adventure begins as you cruise the crystal clear waters of Lake Manapouri.
Then it’s over Wilmot Pass, stopping along the way to experience some of Fiordland’s densest rainforest and to view the colourful alpine moss gardens.
On reaching Deep Cove, you will board our spacious catamaran for a three hour cruise that takes in the most dramatic scenery of Doubtful Sound. Our skippers provide a detailed commentary and point out highlights. Keep a look out for wildlife as bottlenose dolphins frequently come alongside our vessel, fur seals bask on the rocks around the fiord and rare penguins can at times be observed.

Real Journeys - SMALL BOAT CRUISES on Doubtful Sound
Join our leisurely daytime cruise on board the classic ketch Breaksea Girl.
The excursion begins with a cruise across beautiful Lake Manapouri and coach trip over Wilmot Pass to Deep Cove where passengers board the Breaksea Girl.
The soaring peaks, towering cliffs, and dense rainforest which make Doubtful Sound one of the most spectacular in Fiordland, can then be enjoyed during a four and a half hour leisurely cruise of the inner fiord including Crooked Arm, Hall Arm and Elizabeth Island.
The personalised, flexible itinerary will enable wildlife viewing opportunities and the chance for you to get up close to the waterfalls. A special highlight of the cruise will be the opportunity to truly experience the “Sound of Silence” when the engines of the Breaksea Girl are turned off and the fiord becomes enveloped in tranquillity.
Lunch prepared and served on board and you will have plenty of time to chat with the crew who will be happy to share their in depth knowledge of the history, geology and wildlife.
Coach connections are available from Te Anau with transfers from most accommodation (extra costs)

Real Journeys - Doubtful Sound OVERNIGHT CRUISES
Following a short cruise across beautiful Lake Manapouri and a coach trip over Wilmot Pass, you will board the Fiordland Navigator at Deep Cove, Doubtful Sound.
There is plenty of time on your overnight cruise to enjoy the stunning views and to discover the hidden arms of Doubtful Sound. Fur seals and bottlenose dolphins are often seen and at times, rare penguins can be observed. There is also time for you to kayak around the shoreline or go exploring in the tender craft with our nature guide. As the shadows lengthen we’ll drop anchor at a favourite mooring for the night. After the days activities, enjoy a delicious evening buffet meal in the spacious dining saloon.
The Fiordland Navigator is a purpose built boat for cruising in the fiords.
The vessel offers spacious viewing decks, a comfortable dining saloon and observation lounge.
