Release from Nzski 7 June 2013
Coronet Peak Ski Area Manager Ross Copland said there was a “huge” sense of excitement and anticipation in the air, as staff and crew at the ski area worked furiously to get everything ready for Saturday 8 June 2013 !
Coronet Peak Spring Skiing open until 9 October 2011
Coronet Peak ski area will extend its opening dates for skiers and boarders to enjoy an extra week of skiing and riding, thanks to fantastic spring snow conditions.
Coronet Peak was originally scheduled to close this weekend but will now stay open until Sunday, October 9 (conditions permitting of course). At this time of year we would normally only have one mountain open in Queenstown and the conditions at Coronet Peak are currently better than at The Remarkables. This means that The Remarkables will bring its closing date forward and will now shut this Sunday, October 2 at 4pm.
Winter has arrived !

Coronet Peak - All Go on the Snow
Hi All !
STOP PRESSS - STOP PRESS - NZSKI Update 29 June 2011
At last - Coronet Peak has now a upper mountain snow base of between 15 and 25 cm and will open up at 9 am Thursday 30 June 2011 thanks to the hard works of its snowmaking and grooming teams :)
It will be limited skiing but all guests can be catered for.
The Ski area will open with limited beginner, novice and intermediate terrain. Trails can be accessed from the Coronet Express and Meadows Express chairlifts and tow conveyor lifts.
Snow cover on the main trails is still thin with an average 15 to 20 cm on the upper mountain and 10 to 15 cm on the lower mountain.
Runs open will include the main M1 Trail from trop to bottom, the Big Easy trail and beginners area.
Base buildung services will include rental, snowsport school, creche, cafe, coffee bar, guest services and retail !
Furthermore.......Now that colder days and nights would seem to have finally arrived, snowmaking and grooming are continuing on all trails and will open up as sson as possible - conditions will be improving from now on further into the winter.
thursday's opening day will also mark Coronet Peak's first American Express Queenstown Winter Festival event - the iconic Speight's Dog Derby ! On a slighly differen course than previous years........it's guaranteed to be the usual mad mix of barking, mayhem, farmers and dogs !
Further events: Air NZ Holidays Mountain Mayhem day will now go ahead as scheduled on Saturday 2 July !
PS The Remarkables skifield is still on hold as limited fire power there - but snow making has also made progress. It will take a bit longer.
All Guests with tickets to the Remarkables can upgrade to Coronet Peak either at the Snow Centre in Queenstown, or at Guest Services up on the mountain (CP)
