Tourism flagship gets a once over
"The flagship vessel of Wilsons Abel Tasman is receiving alterations to reduce its wake and improve efficiency as it ferries visitors up and down the Abel Tasman National park coastline.
The 20 m long catamaran Abel Tasman Voyager which was launched approx 2 years ago, is being lenghtened by 1.2 m and having hydrofoils fitted among other maintenance improvements.
The chief executive from Wilsons Abel Tasman tourism business says that changes would minimise the vessel's wake which is positive in the kayaking mecca of the National Park. Speed will be boosted without affecting fuel consumption.
The Voyager can carry up to 140 passengers and during peak season travels up and down the coastline three times a day. The work is done at a Nelson Marine company at Port Nelson"
