Hi everyone

A quick personal note....there appears to be rumours going around that Christchurch is a dangerous tourist destination for travellers. These are scarmongering tactics. Christchurch and all its people is open for business and there is no danger visiting. The inner city which got worse hit by the 22 Feb 2011 earthquake has been cleaned up a long time ago and rebuilding in under way where possible - some buildings still being demolished but there are clear signs out !!

Winter Wonderland in Queenstown !

Winter has arrived - the conditions at Coronet Peak and The Remarkables are now fantastic with powder snow up to nearly 1 m deep !

The School holidays are here so make the most of it. You can book all your lift passes, combos, rental ski and snowboard etc with us !

Mt Hutt Skifield opens 27 June 2011

Hi all
Good news !
NZSki has announced that Mt Hutt Ski Area is the first to open for Winter 2011 in New Zealand - today 27 June 2011 !
It will be a partial opening for Mt Hutt with just the MAGIC CARPET and the QUAD CHAIR operating, accessing half of the main Broadway trail !
The other trails do not yet have sufficient snow coverage to open, but snowmaking will be continuing to try and open more of the area as soon as possible !

Coronet Peak and The REmarkables Skifields at Queenstown still on hold !!
Will keep you updated

We can't wait to get underway with winter and welcome all visitors and locals to the slopes !

NZSki has decided to revise the closing date for Mt Hutt.
Revised Closing date is now 16 October 2011 in line with the Remarkables. Coronet Peak will close as scheduled on 2 October 2011 !

Snow conditions Mt Hutt

Mt Hutt ROAD IS OPEN! 40cm of new snow and it is still snowing! Light and dry on the upper mountain, heavier on the lower half of the mountain. Should be great skiing on main groomed trails. Has the potential to be good skiing and riding off trail especially on upper mountain. Please respect all closures. If you break a closure or ski under a rope line you may lose your pass. All lifts subject to weather conditions. Currently cloudy and lightly snowing Wind:Light to moderate winds in the base and about the tops. Temperature:Base area 0 degC, Summit -4.2 degC Visibility: 200m decreasing further up the mountain. Today's Forecast: Moderate winds in the base stronger about the tops with snow forecast during the morning and winds and snow easing during the day. Cold temps so please dress warmly. The forecast is for periods of low visibility throughout the day. If it clears up then very good!
