Ace New Zealand rental cars - rental conditions
Driver's Licence
All drivers should hold a valid driver's licence and be at least 21 years of age. A current acceptable overseas, New Zealand or International licence is required from all intending drivers. At the Manager's discretion, a holder of a licence for less than five years is acceptable but may incur a higher insurance excess.
Rental Duration
24 hours from time of pick up. Additional hours are costed at 1/5 of the daily rate up to five hours and a full day thereafter. Payment is to be made at commencment of hire by either cash, travellers' cheques or credit card.
Tax
Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 12.5% is included in all daily hire prices.
Vehicle Insurance
The excess on the insurance is NZ$1500.00 for drivers aged 18 – 25 years and NZ$1000.00 for drivers aged 25 years and over. A single car accident carries an excess of NZ$2500.00. We only take a credit card imprint for this and do not take the money unless there is an accident.
You can reduce the excess by paying a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) as follows: (These options are not available for drivers 18 – 20 years of age)
Silver Cover
- For drivers aged 25 and over the excess can be lowered down to $100 including taxes.
- For drivers aged 21 to 24 the excess can be lowered down to $250 including taxes.
The CDW rates for Silver cover is as follows:
- 1-3 Days = $48 flat rate
- 4-20 Days = $12 per day
- 21+ Days = $8 per day
Gold Cover
- For drivers aged 25 and over the excess can be lowered down to $100 including taxes, which includes Single Vehicle Accidents and Windscreen Damage.
- For drivers aged 21 to 24 the excess can be lowered down to $250 including taxes, which includes Single Vehicle Accidents and Windscreen Damage
The CDW rates for Gold cover is as follows:
- 1-3 Days = $60 flat rate
- 4-20 Days = $15 per day
- 21+ Days = $10 per day
Bond
A bond is required for all hires. You will be asked to sign a separate security bond in the form of a Credit Card imprint, or give a cash deposit. This bond is held by ACE RENTALS and is not banked. It is our guarantee that the vehicle will be returned on time and in the condition that it was hired.
Early returns
The daily rate on any discounted or special hires may be recalculated at rack rates.
One way hires
Available between all branches, minimum hire days apply. Repositioning fees may apply.
Child and baby seats
Child seats are now compulsory on New Zealand roads (under 5) and may be hired from our branches. Please order at time of reservation stating age of child so correct size may be booked.
All Child Seats are Subject to Availability.
