Drivers Licence
All drivers should have held a valid drivers licence for five years or longer. A current acceptable overseas, New Zealand or International licence is required from all intending drivers. If your licence is not able to be read in English you must have an international licence. At the Manager's discretion, a holder of a licence for less than five years is acceptable but may incur a higher insurance excess.
Rental Duration
A 1 day hire is 24 hours from time of pick up. Additional hours are costed at 1/5 of the daily rate up to five hours and a full day thereafter. Payment is to be made at commencement of hire by either cash, travellers' cheques or credit card.
Tax
Goods and Services Tax (GST) is included in all daily hire prices.
Insurance
For drivers 25 years and over, the insurance excess* is from NZ $1,000 + GST. Specialty vehicles may be subject to a higher excess*. This excess may be reduced at the Manager's discretion. (Please enquire on booking)
A single vehicle accident will be subject to an excess* from $2,000 + GST. Single vehicle excesses are non-reducable.
* Insurance excess subject to change. Please check with hiring location. Excess may vary dependant on pickup location and vehicle type.
Bond
A bond is required for all hires. You may be asked to sign a separate security bond in the form of a Credit Card imprint, or give a cash deposit. This bond is held by PEGASUS and is not banked. It guarantees that the vehicle will be returned on time and in the condition that it was hired.
Early Returns
Returning your hired vehicle early will incur a penalty and/or recalculation of the daily rate.
One Way Hires
Available between most branches, minimum hire days apply. One way drop fees may apply.
Child and Baby Seats
Child seats are compulsory on New Zealand roads (up to 5 years of age) and may be hired from our branches. Please order at time of reservation stating age and weight of child so that the correct size seat may be booked.
Cancellations
Cancellations made within seven days of commencement of hire may incur a one day or 10% cancellation fee (whichever is the greater).
Cancellation fee may vary on specialist vehicles.
