Day 1: Christchurch - Greymouth - Franz Josef
Highlights:
- 8.15am depart on the TranzAlpine™ train to Greymouth (optional extra for self drive)
- the patchwork farmland of the Canterbury Plains
- travel by rail over great viaducts, through tunnels and spectacular gorges
- snow capped alpine peaks
- Arthur's Pass National Park
- Westland National Park, lush native beech forests and reserves
- arrive Franz Josef village
- shuttle to glacier viewpoint
Day 2: Franz Josef Glacier - Queenstown
