The pass is designed for independent travellers who want to experience a rail vacation or get the best out of their holidays to New Zealand and experience the true beauty and benefits of train travel.

You can choose your own route, stop when you like, and travel as many times as you wish within the validity of this flexible pass - hop on and off our tourist trains where and when you wish. You can travel with ease, with two 7 day options available.

Terms and Conditions

• All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST
• Once issued the Scenic Rail Pass is non-refundable and cannot be transferred
• When travelling the Scenic Rail Pass and photographic identification MUST be produced for both train and ferry travel
• Scenic Rail Pass is valid for travel only during the dates it is issued for
• Pass prices are valid for travel up until 30 September 2008
• All travel with the Scenic Rail Pass is subject to the Conditions of Travel of the operators used.
• Excludes The Capital Connection service
• Two 7 day pass options - one includes the Interislander ferry
• Child rate applies to children 2 – 14 years of age inclusive
• Infants (under 2 years) travel free of charge if they are seated on an adult’s knee. A child rate applies if an infant requires a seat
• All services are closed on the 25th December (Christmas day)

Reservations and ticketing:

• Reservations can be made up until 30 September 2008
• Bookings for Interislander travel must be made 24 hours prior to scheduled departure time. You will be given an Interislander reference number which must be produced at the terminal on the day of travel
• Bookings for train travel are not necessary, however all travel and seating is subject to availability
• Passengers booked together on one pass must always travel together
